Role description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux & Virtualization Engineer (L3) with deep expertise in enterprise Linux environments and virtualization platforms. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience administering Red Hat and SUSE Linux, along with strong capabilities in VMware environments and proven experience in migration projects to KVM, OpenShift, or Nutanix.
This role requires a proactive, solution-oriented professional capable of leading complex infrastructure initiatives, optimizing performance, and ensuring high availability across mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
It is required that you have your residence in the city of Queretaro
Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise Linux environments (Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server)
Manage and support VMware infrastructure (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
Plan and execute migrations from VMware to KVM, OpenShift, and/or Nutanix platforms
Design and implement high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery solutions
Troubleshoot complex system, performance, and integration issues across Linux and virtualization layers
Automate system administration tasks using scripting and configuration management tools
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure and application needs
Maintain documentation and ensure adherence to best practices and security standards
Required Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and/or SUSE Linux
Strong experience administering VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
Proven experience in virtualization migrations (VMware to KVM, OpenShift, Nutanix)
Solid understanding of Linux system internals, networking, and storage
Experience with shell scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Experience with enterprise-grade environments and production systems
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with container platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker)
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Ansible, Terraform)
Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, Ceph, vSAN)
Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus , Nagios)
Security hardening and compliance (CIS benchmarks, SELinux, auditing)
Experience with Nutanix AHV and hybrid cloud environments
Understanding of network virtualization and SDN concepts
Certifications such as RHCE, VCP, CKA, or equivalent
