SR. SPECIALIST, GLOBAL TRADE COMPLIANCE - TIJ

Veritiv is looking for a: SR. SPECIALIST, GLOBAL TRADE COMPLIANCE.


Responsibilities:


• Supports business wide compliance of government rules and regulations concerning import, export and global operations.
• Interacts with internal parties and suppliers to determine/validate classifications, valuation, country of origin and customs requirements
• Supports the approval and issuance of certificates of origin (i.e. NAFTA) for import and export. Maintains appropriate documentation to substantiate claims.
• Determines correct Harmonized Tariff classification for both import/export transactions and supports development and maintenance of a centralized import/export database.
• Researches customs regulations and rulings, determines interpretive basis for each classification and communicates with internal clients and external customs brokers
• Liaison with internal departments across business units on regulatory and duty matters.
• Conducts audits and post entry reviews to ensure compliance with customs regulations.
• Supports development and implementation of GTC procedures.
• Coordinate Air & Ocean Cargo movement
• Support departmental accounting functions
• Participate in other tasks and projects related to the Global Trade Compliance department


Required Experience:


• Minimum 7 years experience in Global Trade Compliance and customs operations.
• College or university training in customs or a related field preferred
• Professional designation preferred
• Ability to classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule
• Strong in NAFTA and FTA
• Must be able to effectively communicate customs regulations to external and internal stakeholders
• Autonomous with proven ability to work under minimal supervision
• Ability to autonomously make decisions within the scope of the position and to know when to seek additional information
• Fluent in Spanish, English is an asset
• Self motivated, detail oriented, works well independently and with teams
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel. Intermediate knowledge of Access software
